ABOUT Jessica

Jessica Winnings is a self-taught Hyperrealistic artist based out of Dallas, Texas. Her art story begins when she was young but has matured throughout the years through seasons of sickness, namely, epilepsy. When Jessica was younger, she always had a niche for the Arts. She loved singing, dancing, doodling, and getting her hands dirty in mud, clay, and charcoal. One of her favorite core memories growing up was making “Thank You” cards with her mom.

In April of 2020 Jessica experienced spiritual warfare that came in the form of a seizure. She felt that the seizure was different than others and recalls the physical temperature in the room dropping instantly and the once warm room became freezing. Both her and her husband, Shane, remember feeling an instant chill, as though a dark presence entered the room, and that is when Jessica fell into a seizure. A week later, Jessica thought to draw a hyperrealistic self-portrait.

Although she’s had lifelong interests in different art mediums, there was a turning point in her artistry that took her craft from amateur and inexperienced, to professional and matured. She noticed a change in how she perceived contrast, details, shading and highlights (to clarify, she did not lose the need for art tools like grids, tracing or measurements. The sensitivity was towards perceiving tones and values of graphite, not free-handing perfect proportions).

Jessica’s first and only desire is to give God glory through her work. She prays that those who look at her pieces would feel the Lord’s goodness and faithfulness to sanctify and redeem every heart, and hopes to bring scripture to life in a new and creative way.
